The Art of Condensation II - Intro
As first shown in The Art of Condensation I, I have developed methods of hiding images on the surface of glass which are revealed when the glass fogs up with condensation. Over the years since discovering those early techniques I have continued to refine my process. I have sought to improve the consistency of the outcome, the durability and lifespan of each piece, the invisibility of the latent image, the clarity of the visible image and the simplicity of generating it.
My improved methods have also allowed me to explore a more informal, painterly style of expression. I find myself attracted to the concept of constructing my images of numerous similar elements, conceptually mirroring on the macroscopic scale the landscape of repeating droplets present on the nearly microscopic scale.
By 2010 I had achieved the results shown in the video clip at right. The cup contains only warm water.
